We want to refurbish our outside play area with a more weather resistant surface and need 20 bags of chippings.
About this cause
We want to advance the education of children below compulsory school age by providing safe and satisfying group play. The Playcentre is open for childcare sessions Monday to Friday following the Brighton Schools Academic year, ie closing for end of term and half term holidays. The Playcentre offers a choice of all day and sessional care and also offers a Breakfast club and an After School Club The Playcentre offers Holiday Playschemes for some of the time that local schools are closed typically 3 days at Easter and 2-3 weeks at the start of the Summer break. The Playcentre has been in existence for over 50 years, so have provided nigh on 5 million hours of childcare. There are a total of over 250 children on the register who benefit from the Playcentre.
How this cause brings people in the community together
All of the children benefit from playing outside, rather than being cooped up indoors all day long. They get the benefit of fresh air, and get to exercise and learn about the strengths & limitations of their bodies. Soil, grass and sand get muddy quite quickly. Wood chippings turn to mulch over the course of the year. 'Muddy' children aren't comfortable, and their parents aren't best pleased.
