About this cause

Handcrafted works with people who want to turn their lives around but struggle with homelessness, mental illness, addictions and offending backgrounds. We provide opportunities to make positive changes. Our projects equip them to gain skills and experience before moving on to tackle their specific needs and targets around housing and employment. Our aims are: • To break the cycle and engage people with chaotic lives and destructive behavioural patterns • Help them to help others – many have grown tired of their lifestyle of taking from or hurting others by their actions and behaviours. We create opportunities for them to give back to society and their community • Move on – we work with each individual on their own plan to e.g. get a job, find accommodation or launch their own business.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The people we support want to be contributing members of society and desire to give back to their local area. Having benefited from our support to empower them to turn their lives around, many move on into employment, impacting the local economy, and at least half will get involved in volunteering in the community – from cooking for the homeless to making products for local schools.
