We need to cover the wages of the horticultural therapist to run courses in social horticultural therapy (SHT) for ex service men and women.
About this cause
Tuppenny Barn A) educates the public in all matters relating to organic cultivation and the wider preservation,conservation and protection of the environment and in the prudent use of resources. B) protects and preserves the good health and well being of the local community. C) provides community facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents of the area. D) runs sessions in social and horticultural therapy to improve physical and mental health through gardening,working with people with mild to moderate mental health issues. The entire income raised by the project is used to cover some of the overheads. Funding is required on a regular basis to maintain the activities of the charity.
How this cause brings people in the community together
All activities at Tuppenny Barn are designed to improve the physical & mental health of the community. SHT has gained recognition as a beneficial alternative or addition to more conventional forms of medical intervention & is particularly successful in alleviating the problems created by loneliness & depression or helping those with physical disabilities. No SHT facility exists locally.
