We need to replace the roof on our main hall, so we can continue scouting in Alva.
About this cause
The Scout Association is a UK wide charitable body, incorporated by Royal charter. The aim is to provide the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential as individuals. Our Scouting Programme provides a structure of badges and awards, which are progressive through the sections, and based on a number of objectives. The objectives are based on the Principles of Scouting to ‘actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society’. The new 2015 Scout programme aims to promote outdoor activities encouraging a healthy life style and spirit for adventure. Our young persons are aged between 6 and 14 years of age, we have male and female Scouts.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Scouting is very popular in Alva and we are successfully operating from our own premises in the Johnstone Park in Alva. At the moment we have 62 young pesons and 13 leaders/assistants within the Group. Without a water tight building, we could not continue to provide weekly Scouting meetings. The local Brownie unit also meets in our Hall and they would also have to stop their meetings.
