Blind Life in Durham
Social Inclusion
We want to provide transport to enable blind and visually impaired people to access access activities and events.
About this cause
The Charity's objects are to promote the relief of persons with visual impairments within the County of Durham area by associating together local authorities, agencies, voluntary bodies and said persons in a common effort to both advance education into the issues facing such persons and to provide facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation for such persons with the object of improving their conditions of life. To this end we provide activities such as New Age Kurling, New Age Bowls, an audio book club, and numerous social opportunities. We also organise various days out and a short break during the year.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Enabling blind and visually impaired people to take an active part in wider society is beneficial not only for them and their families but society in general. Our chairman, blind and using a wheelchair is on council committees and an access panel at Durham Cathedral.
