About this cause

The Friends of St. Joseph's is a small independent, non denominational group, who Raise funds for the severely disabled adults living at St Joseph's home or attending the day centre. We regularly provide money for entertainment and for larger projects. We have provided a therapeutic pool and conservatory, sensory gardens, specialist IT equipment for disabled access and a large, wheelchair accessible greenhouse is being built. It will enable the adults to grow flowers and vegetables which they can enjoy. We are at present fund raising to provide a new mini bus to take the adults out and about. We have several major events during each year to raise funds. Our main objectives are to make life more enjoyable and stimulating for these people with multiple and severe disabilities.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The disabled adults aged from 18 upwards, come from a wide area of Mersyside. We are helping all their families by making life better for them. A mini bus will allow the adults to visit local amenities and places of interest, providing social inclusion as well as pleasurable days out in the community.
