About this cause

Fife Society for the Blind helps anyone concerned about their eyesight, supporting them to enjoy independence in all areas of their lives. We are a hands-on charity with specialist knowledge and an openness to embrace new technology and innovation to benefit our clients. We have a multidisciplinary team of specialist social workers, rehabilitation workers, technology experts, employment and community engagement advisors who work on a one-to-one basis with clients. Through individually tailored assessments and person-centred plans, we help individuals regain quality of life. This can vary from the supply of simple assistive aids for one person to two years’ intensive braille and mobility training for another.

How this cause brings people in the community together

As people are living longer we will be faced with an ageing population. Our aim is to keep people with sight problems connected to their local community by being able to access community activities. We will continue to seek activities that blind and partially sighted people can fully integrate in. Transport for many is one of the biggest fears they face which can lead to isolation & loneliness.
