About this cause

The Management Committee manages and maintains the village hall to make it fit for the purpose of providing a safe and pleasant venue for clubs, organisations, private events, birthday parties, etc. The village hall is over 50 years old and the maintenance is a constant headache for the committee due to the deterioration of its structure. The latest project is the replacement of asbestos guttering, wooden fascias and soffits which we expect to complete by the end of the year. Our next project is an ambitious one of replacing the floor, new ceiling (to protect against asbestos) and re-wiring. This will require a lot of grant-funding, including the National Lottery. Any help the Coop can give us will be very much appreciated.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The village hall is used extensively by hirers of all ages. Organisations such as the bowls club, line-dancing club, etc. complain about the uneven state of the floor and it is constantly having to be patched where broken. The ceiling is made of asbestos. By creating a false one we can protect against this and also increase the insulation. The wiring is constantly breaking down.
