Aberdeen Refugees Connections Cafe
Community Development
We want to hold two extended conversation café style events for the Syrian New Scots living in Aberdeen around the theme of connecting.
About this cause
ACVO is the third sector interface for Aberdeen City. We exist to develop, involve, represent & support the third sector every step of the way. We work in partnership with the public, private and 3rd sector to source funding & deliver specific projects to benefit the city. We enable & facilitate a range of networks that bring groups together to share, learn and take joint action for improved outcomes. We represent the views of the third sector to local & national government and other public agencies. There is seldom a sector view so we seek to present the range of opinions. We provide advice and guidance on a 1:1 or group basis on all aspects of setting up, operating or growing a third sector organisation. By doing this we enable them to influence policy development & implementation.
How this cause brings people in the community together
In addition to demonstrating the connections that have already been made, it will help build ties between refugees, individuals from other international communities, and the wider community. We will also take the opportunity to recognise & celebrate the work that volunteers have done to support and welcome Syrian New Scots to Aberdeen. We would like for this to become an annual occurrence.
