We want to give our elderly a very special day each week and need money for meals and equipment.
About this cause
Brampton Day Centre is held weekly and run by volunteers. It provides a day for the elderly and less mobile from 10am to 3pm. Volunteers collect members from their homes and on arrival coffee and biscuits are served. The morning is spent playing a variety of board games with lunch served at midday. After lunch we have a raffle and play bingo followed by afternoon tea, biscuits/cake. Everyone is taken home. Our objective is to raise funds in order to give our clients special treats to look forward to. Normally we serve soup, a roll and dessert but we would like these lunches to include salads, fish and chips and roasts provided by our local butcher. We also wish to provide occasional entertainment, community singing and a variety of performers. Finally a truly memorable time at Christmas
How this cause brings people in the community together
It gives everyone who attends the opportunity to mix, socialise and improve their mobility. Many of them live alone and this day is their only contact with the outside world. Playing games stimulates, entertainment raises their spirits and the food we provide is often the only hot meal they get. They rely on the helpers to provide a great camaraderie which helps them through the rest of the week.
