About this cause

Park Farm works with children, young people and families who are marginalised, most of whom come from low income, high levels of unemployed and single parent households. We aim to bring about long-term change and improve the quality of life of local residents, enabling Centre users to become active citizens in their own social and economic development. We operate a youth club and after school club twice weekly, breakfast clubs and play schemes during school holidays and facilitate other children's activities. Adults attend the Centre for educational, recreational and healthy life style activities, such as: Paint pots, Accordions, Cake decorating/sugar craft skills, Simply Cook, Fit Forever - 60 plus, Family Martial Arts, Family Yoga, Sow Grow and Eat and Employment Training.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The project helps elderly users to stay pain-free, reduces risk of mental illness and depression. It enables them to keep active and stay independent, as well as providing a forum where they can make friends and socialise, thereby reducing the risk of isolation and loneliness. Most people as they get older want to keep in touch with society, friends and neighbours.
