About this cause

Bentham & District Pet Rescue has two main aims: firstly, to help local cats, dogs and other pet animals, mostly by rescuing cats, caring for them at our sanctuary building in Burton in Lonsdale, and finding suitable new homes for them; and secondly, to help pensioners needing assistance with vet bills for their pets. In addition, we offer advice to pet owners, assist with finding lost pets, and help in managing feral cat colonies by trapping and neutering cats. Covering the Bentham District, we are run entirely by volunteers and rely on raising funds, primarily at local events run by our supporters.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our project will help the many elderly people in our local community in two ways: it will mean those enjoying the companionship of a pet will have the peace of mind of knowing that we will look after their pet's future when they no longer can, and we hope to encourage many others to share their homes with a pet, knowing they have our support, both financially and with practical help.
