We want to plan and arrange showcase events with young people to celebrate their creative achievements. Costs include hire and refreshments.
About this cause
Grassroots is a youth centre in Cardiff city centre, providing a range of advice and support services for young people aged 16-25 years old. We operate an open-door drop-in service, regularly supporting between 40-50 young people. Young people are often experiencing a range of complex issues: poverty, low educational attainment, unemployment, poor emotional / mental wellbeing, housing and shelter (over 30%), youth offending, isolation, leaving care (around 40 %), young parenthood, substance misuse and issues relating to sexuality / gender / identity. Our qualified youth workers follow the youth progression framework for Wales and utilise a range of activities to engage young people including a coffee bar, digital media, drama and music.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The showcase events will provide entertainment and inspiration for the community, experiencing the creative talents of young people who attend Grassroots. The inter-generational events will bring members of the community together, providing positive opportunities to engage with young people, and to encourage and support their personal development, increasing their skills and confidence.
