About this cause

To foster community spirit and promote the interests of the people of Kirkcaldy and environs through providing for community, educational and social activity. It has been in the community for over 51 years and based in an area of high deprivation, over 600 people of various ages use the centre on a weekly basis as the programme is varied to suit all needs/interests. Kirkcaldy Foodbank, Adapt ,Cruse ,Family Contact teams are a few based in the centre to meet all needs of the community. Funding has been successful from Community Assets of the Big Lottery to support a programme for three years to run a Cafe Hub, Parent and Toddler group and a playgroup as these have all been identified as groups to support family needs in the area.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Educate people to understand cooking from fresh is not costly or difficult which will improve long term health and finances for the community. This would build confidence learning in a informal, safe environment, make friends and long term community lunches could be offered more than once a month due to having a bank of volunteers. The lunches have 30 to 40 attending also open Christmas Day.
