Help us buy a minibus that can tow our trailer so we can take the young people away on camp when their parents are deployed on operations.
About this cause
Our scout group is a small unit that has a very fluid membership base as the families frequently get posted in and out of the area. Many of the children have parents that have to spend extended periods away from home deployed on operations. We in the group try to provide a stable routine environment which includes many activities that the children may miss out on due to the abnormal family dynamics that they are experiencing. Part of this is to take them away on camps which not only provides experiences for the young person, it also helps give a lone parent some respite. Several of these trips have been cancelled due to lack of availability of vehicles or equipment meaning that a vital aspect of what we aim to achieve is unavailable.
How this cause brings people in the community together
This project will help give our young people the opportunity to experience and develop skills in a controlled and safe environment, leading to improved self confidence and resilience so they can engage with and give back to the local community. Providing this opportunity helps to maintain a degree of normalcy in their lives during stressful times when their parent is away from home.
