About the Project
We have volunteers who offer low cost 1:1 training in IT to the public and this has been very helpful especially for the elderly. We also use the IT suite to help the WLP women to write CV's to enable them to work and to gain their Food & Hygiene certificates so they can volunteer in our cafe. We can also help to educate them in the basics of Maths & English through online learning.
About the Charity
The Water Lily Project (WLP) is a registered charity that helps support vulnerable women in Christchurch and the surrounding areas. We offer 1:1 support to women with multiple complex needs, including domestic violence and abuse, substance abuse, mental health issues and poverty. We operate out of Bailey's Cafe on Barrack Road, where we provide a free weekly meal for the women and an opportunity to meet with our volunteer befrienders. WLP partnered with Christchurch Community Partnership on the 'Random Act of Kindness' £3 meal card scheme, whereby we can feed the homeless, lonely and isolated in the area at the cafe. We also have an IT suite & craft room where we can help train the women & public. Objectives: to empower women to live fulfilled lives and build positive relationships.
