The Dressing Room Cafe
Education & Skills
We want to install an accessible point of sale system in our cafe which will help adults with learning difficulties complete traineeships.
About this cause
The Edge Theatre & Arts Centre is a theatre (both a receiving and producing house), a thriving arts centre that is a hub for the local community, a charity working with vulnerable adults and young people to use high quality arts to transform lives, and a café which is also training centre for adults with learning disabilities. The Edge was launched in 2011 with award winning actors Julie Hesmondhalgh and Sir Mark Rylance as its Patrons. “alongside the excellent work on stage, there’s good stuff happening throughout the organisation, with a participation programme as inclusive as it is ambitious” Rob Martin, Time Out We are applying for funding for our cafe, The Dressing Room, to support our work training learning disabled adults in all aspects of hospitality and catering.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our training programme has already proved to be an invaluable resource to many people, with 55 learning disabled adults from the local community, colleges and charities having completed training placements since it began. This system will extend the training we already provide and give invaluable transferable skills as it will be based on similar systems used across the hospitality industry.
