Gatehouse Development Initiative - Cally walls project

We want to involve local volunteers in helping to clear and restore the last section of the Cally boundary wall.
About this cause
Our objectives are to benefit the people of Gatehouse of Fleet through: -the maintenance, improvement or provision of public amenities - the preservation of buildings or sites of historic or architectural importance - the provision of recreational facilities for the public at large - the protection and conservation of the environment - the advancement of education. We communicate with the people of Gatehouse through the Gatehouse Newsletter and the Gatehouse web site. We organise a local Saturday market. We have a team of volunteers, who maintain the town hall garden, keep paths clear and help maintain the environment of the local area. We raise funds to carry out projects which benefit the local community, such as energy efficiency measures for the Community Centre and the library.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Restoring the wall will improve the environment of Gatehouse of Fleetand and make this tourism dependent community a better place to visit and live in. It will enhance Cally woods which are popular with visitors and locals alike. Completing this project will enhance local pride and it will provide a sense of well being for all involved in the project as well as the wider community.
