We will use funding to support outings, arrange separate social relief sessions and organise regular speakers to update us on research.
About this cause
We have a small committee of volunteers that organise the local Branch. We have a membership of 40+, of people with Parkinson's and their Carers. We arrange monthly social and fellowship meetings for members and separate ones for their Carers. Meetings include enjoyable social gatherings, visits from experts to update us on Research and Medical developments. We invite outside speakers and organise outings. Recently , we visited the Sheffield Institute for Neurological Sciences Updating on this aspect of the search for a cure. On a regular basis, we organise Parkinson's Exercise sessions as well as outings and annual social evening. Our aim is to reach many more potential members to join us and the Coop can help us here. We also send some of our funds to Parkinson's UK to support research.
How this cause brings people in the community together
There are known to be 1600 people in Lincolnshire who suffer from Parkinson's. In our area, we only have a small membership and we want to reach more sufferers and get them to join our branch. We want to raise Awareness by publicising our activities at all public places through leaflet drops and regular fundraising and public displays and hopefully set up a Facebook page too.
