About this cause

Vulnerable isolated people, with a reduced social network, mental and physical frailty and in many cases, limited family contact, are in danger of being invisible to the statutory and voluntary sector organisations which are able to support them. Companion animals are very often vital companions. We have a track record of accessing hard- to -reach people that leads to unmet, unidentified needs being met. Our approach is unique as it is bridging the divide between the human and animal welfare organisations and it is a relatively low-cost intervention. Companion animals save the NHS £2.45 billion annually due to reduced doctor visits amongst other variables. We are putting proven research into practice and our evidenced based approach is important when the public purse is shrinking.
