9th Itchen (Woolston Methodist) Sea Scout Group
Young People
Money will be spent on replacing worn out equipment such as buoyancy aids, kayak paddles and oars.
About this cause
The 9th Sea Scout Group, based in Woolston, has been supporting the local community for the last 62 years. The Scout Group encourages girls and boys between 6 and 18 using fun group activities that build confidence, teamwork, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness and commitment. As a Sea Scout Group our wide range of activities include; kayaking, sailing and rowing as well as camping, archery, first aid and navigation. Our aims are to replace some of our ageing equipment, for example, buoyancy aids, oars and paddles and to maintain our engine to allow us to expand the range of opportunities available to all our Scouts across all ages.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The project will help all with supporting the Sea Scouts to gain a greater understanding of many different water sports and to increase their skills and understanding of their local environment.
