About this cause

Mulberry Bush Playgroup gained Charitable status in 2009 and this was backdated to take effect from 7th June 2005. It is a non-profit making organization. The Playgroup is a cross community venture whose aim is to ‘enhance the development and education of children under statutory school age’. The Playgroup caters for up to 25 children within the age range of 2 years and 10 months up to 4 years of age. It is open to children from all backgrounds and cultures and to date our applications reflect this diversity. We have been in operation from September 2005 and over the last few years have reached full capacity, with a waiting list in operation through the year. This re-enforces the fact that there is a great demand for this type of Early Years provision in the Carnmoney area.

How this cause brings people in the community together

As childhood obesity is on the increase, raising awareness of the health benefits of regular physical exercise for young children is vitally important. This sports equipment will enable the playgroup to provide a more focused approach to a daily exercise routine for each child. The physical and mental well being of each child will be significantly improved, through the funding of this project.
