Ferring Country Centre
Community Development
We want a Countryside Educational Area at the entrance of our small animal farm for children and adults with learning disabilities.
About this cause
Ferring Country Centre is a local independent charity providing a day service which offers meaningful training and work experience for people with learning disabilities. Our customers develop work and social skills by assisting us with operating the Riding Therapy Unit, Garden Centre, Café, Animal Farm and Charity Shop. The Centre enables customers to work in a safe, supervised and supportive environment. They are able to build on their self esteem and confidence whilst learning and being given opportunities that some of us take for granted. They are empowered to make choices, sometimes for the first time in their lives. Our desire is that the work ethos applied at the Centre will enable our customers to move on to work in the community, voluntary or possibly paid employment.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The hub would enable us to extend the whole farm experience giving special needs children and adults who visit our farm and our customers the opportunity to learn about animals and their habitats in a safe, clean, secure environment. Designed to inspire, innovate and extend the existing benefits of our Small Animal Farm by enabling all year round access to animal related education and learning.
