1st Chigwell (St Winifred's) Guide Unit

We would like to use the funding to help with associated award costs and to fund the unit's first overseas residential trip.
About this cause
1st Chigwell Guides provides a welcoming, girl-only space for girls between 10-14 years. As a unit we are dedicated to the girls leading the way - they choose activities, challenges and events that inspire them, and our volunteers support them to make it happen. The opportunities provided to them at Guides prepare them for progression into our Senior Section. Fundraising will help deliver a wide range of activities and experiences to help the girls reach their full potential. Currently we have nearly 30 Guides from Chigwell and the surrounding area that attend the unit. The objective of the group is to enable the girls to develop into confident, independent, strong young women with a strong community sense. This objective is achieved through meetings, activities and unit holidays.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The Guide programme has a strong sense of social citizenship. The girls, through the programme gain important social skills and life experiences from the various activities and trips, these skills and traits are used in everyday life outside of Guiding and will be carried forward in order to benefit the community as a whole.
