About this cause

GRA operates advice centres along the lines of a Citizens Advice Bureau in Ellon, Huntly and Inverurie and their surrounding rural areas. In 2016/17 our advice centres dealt with 26,460 issues, personal debt amounting to £5.2 million and overall dealt with 2,446 clients and their families earning a client financial gain of £2.9m. We operate two charity shops which help to subsidise our advice projects. The shops recycle/re-use a significant amount of donated items. Our area cover towns and villages where there are large pockets of social housing and where unemployment is on the increase. Our clientele can be old or young, be homeless, disadvantaged, hungry, face eviction, have substantive debt, have drug and alcohol addiction problems, have severe mental health and disability issues.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We help all sections of the Ellon and district community be they young or old, with learning or physical disabilities and addiction issues. We support all our clients, helping them to improve their lives, by providing them with options and solutions to their problems. From feedback received, we are successful in building better and stronger communities by supporting people in time of need.
