We need to cover the expenses of an evening course to train people to become family support volunteers.
About this cause
HSC’s mission is to enable Camden families experiencing stress or difficulties to meet the needs of their children under five. The organisation’s main aims are: - to give children the best start in life by assisting parents to develop confidence and improve their parenting skills; - to reduce parental stress and improve family health; - to increase self-esteem and confidence within the family; - to reduce isolation and enable families to access other support and; - to increase the confidence and employability of volunteers through training, support, supervision and home-visiting experience.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The project will provide training for local people who would like to develop their skill set and share their expertise with others in the area. It will support families with young children, who will be carefully matched with a trained volunteer who will then visit them at home for 4 hours a week, providing non-judgmental, peer-to-peer support.
