We're planning a day trip for all Darvel Senior Citizens. We will hire buses and pay for a hotel high tea for all.
About this cause
The Committee, all Darvel residents, exists for the purpose of providing an Annual outing for Senior Citizens in Darvel aged 70 years and over. It has provided an annual trip since 1906. Everyone is eligible to be included in the register of names from the age of 70. It provides an afternoon bus trip and hotel high tea, free of charge, allowing an opportunity for the residents to meet, socialise and enjoy a meal in the company and friendship of others. Over half of those attending are picked up and returned close to their homes. A gift of teabags and chocolates is delivered to those who are unable to attend. The objective is to provide a welcome and enjoyable change to the daily routine of a large number of Senior Citizens (usually over 100) who look forward to the trip each year.

The Outing provides a welcome change to the daily routine of a large number of Darvel Senior Citizens who look forward to it each year. Over 100 attend, a significant section of the local community. It provides an opportunity to meet, socialise and enjoy a meal in the company and friendship of others. The trip has always been free of charge to those who go and we would like this to continue.
