About this cause

48th Bristol scout group is based in the the South Bristol area of Stockwood. It's run voluntarily by 5 dedicated leaders. This long standing group currently caters for over 80 local children from 6-14 years if age within 3 sections (beavers, cubs, scouts) and soon to be 4 (when explorers starts). Thriving in an area with little for them to do, in what's considered a deprived area of the city. The scout group is a great way of teaching the children valuable life skills all while having an amazing time. Encouraging them to grow into well rounded considerate young adults. They have the chance participate in some great activites, sailing, caving, cooking, tobogganing, day trips, craft, team building & of course camping. The groups all get on well together, no doubt making life long friends

How this cause brings people in the community together

An updated hut will help the group. We could rent the hall out to other groups, making the wider community aware of the scout group & the work they do. The children could feel proud of their surroundings & want to help in its upkeep. We feel that in the future without this work the future of the scout group will be in jeopardy, as the state of the building becomes more in a state of disrepair.
