Carradale Play Park Regeneration
Young People
We want to save our local play park by replacing old and damaged equipment and improving the surfacing.
About this cause
Carradale Activity Play Park (CAPP) is a registered Scottish Charity, and was established in February 1999 to create a safe place for the children in this rural village to play. The park has served the community well for a number of years but has now fallen into a state of disrepair and some equipment has been condemned by insurers. The surfacing also needs vastly improved to make it safe and the fencing needs repaired in places. If no action were taken, the park would have to close and future children of the village would be denied access to a safe, fun environment in which to play. After several years lying dormant, a new committee of local parents was established in 2016 to oversee the maintenance and possible regeneration of this play space.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our much loved park is the only one situated in our village. It is the only place for local children to exercise and enjoy playing in a safe, secure environment and it would be catastrophic for our village if the park was forced to close. We see the park as a vital part of our community, where youngsters can play happily and safely outside and parents and carers can meet up and get together.
