About this cause

We are volunteers living in Huntington, Hednesford or Penkridge who respond to life threatening emergencies providing help to people prior to arrival of an Ambulance. When a "999" call is made, WMAS despatch an Ambulance & call any volunteer in the area. Being local we can arrive within the first vital minutes that can make a difference between life & death. In the stress of an emergency people do not always realise the first person on scene to help may be a local volunteers. Apart from training, radio & small petrol allowance CFRs receive no NHS funding depending on local support to buy lifesaving equipment such as defibrillators (AED) & the provision & costs of an emergency car. We provide training in basic lifesaving skills (“Heartstart”) as well as on the use of public access AEDS.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Not only will funding help our team continue to save lives in the areas we cover, but training we provide in through attending local events, within the school etc also enables others to have the confidence to 'do something' if faced with a life threatening situation at home or work or in the street. As such it is very difficult to judge just how many people will actually benefit from the support
