About the Project

At the wash up meeting last week the schools that had participated were full of praise for the scheme and all but one has signed up for next year. The school that dropped out has been replaced. The feedback from the schools was that attendance was up, attention in class was better and academic achievement was improving. Surely that is a benefit to the community!

About the Charity

Warrington Rowing Club is an open to all sports club based in the centre of Warrington. It promotes the sport to all ages and all levels of ability. Some members are happy to row a couple of times a month on a recreational basis, one is a current World Champion. Membership is currently about 200 covering all ages between 11 and 78. We are at the end of the first year of an exciting new project. In an effort to promote the sport to a new audience we are working with disadvantaged pupils (Pupil Premium) in 8 local secondary schools. Ten pupils per school. This is a sector of the community that would never have dreamed of trying out a sport like rowing. Like all sports clubs, money is tight and we need some help with basic equipment to sustain and expand the scheme.
