Carluke Parish Historical Society
Community Development
We want to publish a book about local men/women who fought during during WW1 and the lives of those in the parish during the conflict.
About this cause
We are a local historical society who stimulate public interest in and awareness of the natural features of and human activity in the Parish, past and present, to discover, acquire, copy, compile and preserve all records, objects and artefacts of local interest and work towards the eventual establishment of and thereafter to maintaining a local museum or permanent exhibition place to pursue these ends by means of meetings, exhibitions, lectures, publication, conferences and publicity to all age groups throughout the community and beyond.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our work promotes a sense of community in an ever expanding commuter town. All age groups will benefit from this. Our previous publications are used as source material by many organisations. The image shows CPHS using local shops to display schoolchildren's work and to promote footfall in the town centre. Volunteering opportunities arise in all our projects.
