About this cause

Friend in Need works with (provide services for) older adults. Having investigated the local community, we found a gap in the provision of services for these members of the local community; The provision of FIN services, particularly our Activity Centre, is for bringing people together to interact with each other, on a social level, to meet new people and create new friendships and enjoy various activities. The shopping scheme benefits mainly housebound people. We do offer accompanied shopping. Resulting from these activities, trust is built and help of a more personal nature is offered: emotional, spiritual, monetary, health (blood pressure), home security, etc.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Friend in Need does not discriminate on religion, race, sexual orientation, mental capacity etc. As such, participants meet a cross section of the population, creating a greater understanding of each other, engendering community cohesion. Participating in healthy activities reduces the need for doctor's and hospital appointments and gives each person a more positive outlook.
