We want to arrange a number of small social events to bring elderly people together.
About this cause
Good Morning Ballycastle is a telephone befriending service covering the area along the North Antrim Coast taking in Waterfoot across to Portbalintrea. Presently we make daily contact with 102 elderly and vulnerable and lonely people. This reduces loneliness and isolation. Our "Friend on the Phone " project has delivered this service to over 275 people in this area since its commencement in 2007. We organise annual Christmas lunch usually early in December using the facilities of Corrymeela. Last year we entertained 86 people. at this event. We also arranged two sessions of Afternoon Teas and have worked closely with Greenlight Gateway to deliver same.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We plan to have a number of small social event to bring people together. Some of these people would never meet each outer outside their local area. The distance between the furthest point would be 25 miles. This project would bring together elderly people of different political and religious backgrounds. Hopefully establishing lasting friendships and breaking down social barriers.
