About this cause
The Autism Group works with families and young people affected by autism. Our main purposes are: - 1. To offer special interest social groups to young people aged 11-25 2. To offer parent support 3. To provide autism training to parents carers and those working directly or indirectly with individuals with ASD
How this cause brings people in the community together
We aim to promote greater recognition, understanding and acceptance of the behaviours associated with autism so that those affected by the condition, their families and carers are better supported within their local communities. The local population is estimated at 150,000. National Autistic Society estimates of 1:100, means there is an estimated 1,500 local residents with ASD.
