About this cause

At Kentish Town City Farm, animals & gardens provide a unique platform for activities which improve the mental, social and physical well-being of local residents, and educate young people about farm life/ the environment. We are free and open 364 days per year, welcoming around 22,000 last year. Our programmes serve Camden residents, primarily the densely populated estates of Gospel Oak surrounding the farm where 86% of families receive tax credits or benefits. We want to Improve health & wellness by providing green space where people connect with others and the natural world, Teach youngsters life skills such as resilience and perseverance through volunteering, Educate school children about farming/ the environment and provide therapeutic activities for people with disabilities.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Gaining skills to grow, buy & cook healthy food reduces financial & health inequalities faced by the 40% of local children who live in poverty. Young people forming good lifestyle habits early benefits us all. Buying locally aids neighbourhood shops & the environment. Growing food in our community gardens with family & friends embeds exercise, citizenship & a sense of belonging.
