We want to ensure that we can meet the cost of pool hire fees beyond the end of 2018 in order to provide our service.
About this cause
Bexley Beavers provides an exclusive weekly swimming session for people with disabilities, their carers and their immediate family members, supervised by fully qualified and trained volunteer lifeguards, to enjoy the health and social benefits that swimming provides. It provides an opportunity for all of the family to enjoy some time together in an activity that they would not normally have access to. Our charitable objects are the promotion of health and the relief of need for disabled people by providing, teaching and encouraging swimming and providing other activities to build their confidence and help them participate in society.
How this cause brings people in the community together
It will directly benefit the disabled youngsters and adults and their peers and families (over 200 people) who already regularly use our services as well as newcomers, building their confidence and social skills. It also raises disability awareness among the non disabled adults and volunteers. Our activity helps to raise awareness in the wider community as a whole as we publicise its benefits.
