About this cause

Aberdeen and District Beekeepers Association was established in 1910. It provides support and training in promoting good "beekeeping" practices for all. Regular meetings and practical's raise the standards throughout the entire County. Courses for those who would like to learn how to keep bees properly are run in the winter time backed up with opportunities to have "hands on" experience in our association apiary at Crathes. Educational talks and visits into the schools promote the importance of bees in our world today. Our swarm responders also keep the public safe and re-assured by providing a fast service to collect any problem bees.

How this cause brings people in the community together

There is a keen interest in the plight of the honey bee and our equipment desperately needs updating in order for us to continue offering this education to the public in a safe and controlled manor. It will also help with the education classes that we run through the winter months and the extra equipment can be loaned to the school apiaries that we mentor.
