We want to buy pre-release and tracking equipment, a computer and boxes for many more successful hedgehog releases.
About this cause
Hedgehog Care and Rehab supports - local community and public by taking in sick/injured hedgehogs. Responds to phone calls from people concerned about hedgehogs, or wanting advice on hedgehog related matters (+ occasionally other wildlife), gives advice on the best action/contact numbers for other people able to help them. We have an active educational programme running courses from - basic hedgehog awareness to full hedgehog rehabilitator. We do regular talks to gardening groups, schools, care homes etc. We offer opportunities for people to learn more about hedgehogs by volunteering in many ways - sorting newspaper to doing microscope work. We provide - work experience; students etc with valuable references; back to work skills; self-esteem building; opportunities for special needs.
How this cause brings people in the community together
This project will give more people the joy & opportunity of seeing hedgehogs in their garden, and a sense of well being. By providing talks, courses & leaflets on wildlife friendly gardening less people will have the distress of seeing sick/injured hedgehogs forced across roads etc in search of nest sites & areas to forage. Volunteer opportunities will enhance the community spirit.
