To reduce the isolation of older people, we need funds for social activities, exercise classes, cognitive therapy and other activities.
About this cause
Pengarth cares for over 150 individuals a week aged in their late fifties to 100 plus through day care at the Centre and delivery of meals on wheels. reducing loneliness and isolation which can lead to depression, and giving respite and peace of mind to their families and carers who may be working or living away. We provide a warm, safe environment with professional day care to ensure older people can continue living safely in the community, come home sooner from hospital, acting as liaison between district nurses, doctors and so-on, prevention of slips, trips and falls, ensure eating and drinking nutritially and well, encouraging independence and enabling a dignified older age. The wellbeing and preventative measures of Pengarth reduce strain on hospital and emergency service resources.
