About this cause

The aim of The Brunswick Club for Young People is to provide a safe, friendly environment in which children and young people can develop their physical, creative, mental and social skills through their leisure time activities. Originally formed in 1949 – with donations made by British prisoners of war held in Brunswick, Germany – the strong traditions and values of the club have seen it thrive to the present day. It is now a purpose-built youth centre in the heart of Fulham, London SW6, offering educational and leisure facilities to children and young people from low income families. Providing services six days a week, with an active membership of over 800 and an average daily attendance of 94, the Club enjoys a good level of support and respect within the local community.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Benefits for the children will be new experiences, increased confidence, better social skills, stronger friendships, less negative peer pressure, reduced boredom and lots of fun. For their parents it will be more space and time at home and more positive interaction with their children. And for the community it will be positively engaged children showing more respect for their local environment.
