We want to run a mentoring scheme using cooking to expose young people to professionals, learn new skills and improve job prospects.
About this cause
Leaders in Community (LiC) is a youth-led charity run by a group of active young people aged 13-25 living, studying or working in Tower Hamlets. We were set up in 2006 by a group of young adults who wanted to improve local services. We have a variety of creative learning programmes aimed to empower young people in leadership and governance. The programmes run throughout the year and are free for all young people. We inspire and empower young people to be active contributors to the community through employment and entrepreneurial initiatives. We will provide 16-25 year olds with the skills and opportunities to develop into confident and inspirational contributors to the broader Tower Hamlets community, whether it be as professionals in the workforce or as entrepreneurs in the community.
How this cause brings people in the community together
A greater involvement from the corporate sector who will work with local community to pass on their knowledge. They will take the young people out of their comfort zones to challenge their existing behaviour/attitudes & then work together to look at how they should prepare themselves for jobs. Also this will lead to access to a greater range of opportunities & improved life skills.
