Social Inclusion
Help us provide a one year programme of free, practical and emotional support for two local families under stress and personal crisis point.
About this cause
Based in Meldreth in South Cambs, we provide a unique home visiting service to vulnerable local families at risk with children under 9 years. Free, confidential and non-judgmental support is given by our highly trained volunteers, who visit the families every week. Helping to prevent them reaching crisis point by helping them manage a wide range of issues including: depression, social isolation, bereavement, disability, domestic abuse, family breakdown and children's behavioral problems. As a result of our support, family members are less isolated, have better self esteem and improved mental health. Parents develop the confidence, knowledge and skills to independently manage their family lives again and to access community services.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our volunteers will help parents to develop the self-assurance to successfully work through their difficulties themselves. Empowered parents will then become more able to effectively manage children with challenging behavior and/or additional needs. Families will develop confidence to start new friendships within a support network, to integrate with the local community.
