We want to provide a stimulating, safe environment for young children and babies and their carers.
About this cause
This is a group for children, parents and carers, and the group meets fortnightly in 'The Pathway', the Methodist Church in Middleton. The group is run by a young mum with two small children, and she has identified a need for this, as being a parent in a remote community, it can be a very lonely existence without contact with people in a similar situation. There is a need for equipment to enhance this, which is why this application is being made. The group meets 1pm-3.30pm on alternate Fridays. the group is continuing through school holidays so people don't feel isolated during these times. Suitable equipment would ensure a safe environment for babies who would be at risk from older siblings who are unaware of the dangers they pose.
How this cause brings people in the community together
This remote community in the North Pennines, with few amenities. Parenting is THE most important role, and support in the form of social interaction is vital for the physical and mental health of the parent/carer to therefore give of their best to the next generation. Meeting with other children is important for developing social skills in children's early years, and this would provide that.
