We wish to employ a Health Mentor to work with our school, pupils and families to promote health and well-being.
About this cause
As a primary school, in an area of high deprivation, we have a high volume of pupil premium pupils and free school meal pupils, we wish to employ a Health Mentor. Our objective is for this mentor to build relationships with the pupils and families, promoting and educating them about food, exercise and diet. Through various sporting activities and a change in lifestyle this will have a great impact on outcomes for our children. This will assist in them reaching their full potential and create healthier, more alert, happier , better behaved children. This will assist in breaking down the barriers between school and families, heping us build better relationships within the community.
How this cause brings people in the community together
This project will break down the barrier between school and families. They will be encouraged to attend sessions within school around healthy eating, diet and exercise. We will invite other healthcare professionals from the community to hold sessions promoting a healthy lifestyle. The children will be involved in sporting activities with other schools in the area, taking the skills to high school.
