About this cause

Camsley Grange RDA is a small charity offering horse riding and therapeutic riding sessions for people with physical and learning disabilities, in the Warrington area. The Group strives to enable both children and adults to improve their health and wellbeing through real and lasting therapy. Horse riding for the disabled benefits mobility, posture and coordination, encourages the development of personal confidence and self- esteem – whilst having fun. We ride on 2 evenings/ week, with 14 riders benefiting from our activities. The charity is run entirely by volunteers, and relies on them to provide the riding sessions. The Group currently owns 2 ponies, and has 2 ponies on loan. RDA ponies have to cope with a variety of riders with different disabilities, and need to be specially trained.

How this cause brings people in the community together

It will benefit young disabled and able-bodied people. The young people benefit physically (riding develops muscle control and core posture), helps develop communication skills, self-confidence and self-esteem and is really enjoyed by our riders. For every rider we need 3 volunteers. Our volunteers are mainly also young people who through us help others and develop life skills at the same time.
