About this cause

The Salisbury Child Contact Centre offers a safe and neutral place for children who are separated from a non-resident parent (one who they don't live with), to meet and rebuild a positive relationship with them. The aim of the Child Contact Centre is to protect children from parental conflict and keep them safe from displays of hostility between parents. Common causes for seeking our services include domestic abuse, drug and alcohol abuse, child abuse or fear of abduction. Sometimes the centre is used where there has just been a long absence between a child and a non resident parent. Families can self-refer or are instructed by the Courts/CAFCASS/Solicitors and Social Services.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Children whose parents have separated are affected in terms of social, emotional & cognitive development. This can result in behaviour problems, including anti-social behaviour and taking part in substance misuse. All of this has a huge impact on the wider local communities. Relationships with both parents reduces the potential for psychological damage, creating happier & more balanced children.
