About this cause
More Music is a community music education charity based in the west end of Morecambe. We have been working locally since 1993 and are based at the Hothouse, a vibrant multi purpose workshop / studio space and venue. We know that access to and engagement in the arts can have profound and positive impacts on the lives of individuals and communities,contributing to health and well being and community cohesion. We are committed to inclusion and make music with people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, we produce 3 high quality seasonal festivals and a programme of world class events that help redefine the area and contribute to the local economy. These activities and opportunities raise aspirations, develop skills and confidence, spark creativity and build pride in the community.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Activities and opportunities for adults with learning disabilities have significantly reduced in recent years, as has funding, and there is great demand for services such as these. The programme will provide an important opportunity for socialising, confidence building and learning, while promoting a sense of belonging and inclusion for a group of marginalised people, enhancing community cohesion
