About this cause

The Town Mill Trust was founded in 1994 by local people who restored the town's mill and preserved it to promote our local heritage. Our mission is to be a vibrant, historic and cultural centre in the heart of Lyme Regis. Today, the Mill is run almost entirely by a volunteer community who care for and protect the mill, its buildings and garden and open them up daily to the wider world. The watermill is maintained and operated daily and our miller guided tours and fresh ground flour are available by donation. The Town Mill is also home to 10 independent artisan businesses and 2 art galleries. We rely on the support of our members, donors and volunteers, as well as income from grant-making bodies, our tenancies and fundraising activities, to help us secure the future of The Town Mill.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Local children and adults have been attending our art clubs but we do not have fit-for-purpose space to continue these in: this project would provide a purpose-built space, proper equipment and we could extend the capacity and subjects of our courses to more people of different ages & abilities. Our community could come and learn to bake here together, or do art, history or milling workshops.
