About this cause
We are a Dorset based registered charity formed in 2006 providing specialist search dog support to the police & other emergency services in the search for missing vulnerable adults & children. We are a team of local volunteers on-call 24 hours a day, ready to search across Dorset and surrounding areas in all weathers. As members of the Association of Lowland Search and Rescue (ALSAR) we work closely with our neighbouring county teams with the objective of locating missing persons as quickly as possible to give the best possible chance of survival.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The local areas that the team are called out to search in are typically remote and inaccessible for vehicles potentially resulting in a reduction in the chances of survival due to delays in evacuation of the casualty. The ability to provide comprehensive first response medical assistance is essential to potentially save life when a missing person is found before they can be evacuated.
